BIG DAY

I am tired of being so inactive and I am well informed of the dangers of sitting too much so I re-started my home physical program this morning by doing 5 sun salutations. Then I set the timer on my phone for an hour so that each hour I would do a series of stretches and yoga positions. This works really well when you keep your phone nearby.

I think mine is on the kitchen counter….nope…maybe I left it in the laundry room where I spent 30 minutes of my life I’ll never get back flattening out the Christmas tissue paper earlier (does anyone else do this?)……nope, not there, but I left a closet light on in the basement so took the opportunity to turn it off……maybe I left it up in my bedroom…….nope…..OMG, I was sitting on it hee hee hee!

Fifteen minutes to go but perhaps I can consider the last few minutes of going up and down 2 staircases as my exercise break this hour…..no? Who asked you!!

I have 12 minutes left and then I am heading to my stationary bike.

Then….get ready for it….I’m going out!!! Yup, I went to print off my passport renewal and while I have every colour of paper imaginable I had only 1 piece of white paper left. As I’m not sure if the passport office will accept fuchsia paper I’d better go buy a package of white. And…..I need some fan brushes for my upcoming water colour project so will kill 2 birds with one stone!

Oh, and here’s my sign for Saturday’s march:

And there goes my timer!

Ups and Downs

I should have mentioned when I posted on January 5th that so far in 2017 I hadn’t spent any money! Five No Spend days in a row! I wondered how long I could go this month without spending anything at all and well it was Jan. 5th 🙂
My friend Julie was back from LA and had an empty fridge so I picked up food from Hong Ping and we had a feast! Definitely a money-worthy event.

And it was all downhill from there…as I checked in my local thrift shop for a warm brown hat. There were tons of hats but nothing that suited me or went with its intended brown coat. Oh well, might as well have a wander…

I love metal decor of all sorts and I like watching pieces get weathered.
This will go out on my patio to keep DREAM company.
Now I won’t just be dreaming I’ll be hoping and dreaming:)

I seem to be lucky lately finding silver filagree work. These 3 flowers are displayed in a shadow box.

Remember this one? Same store.

And also for my patio – 2 cast iron birds/candle holders – extremely heavy.

Okay, I’m ready for summer! Too bad it’s about a hundred below zero today!
Speaking of the cold…
I managed to finish a crocheted headband for Kazi.
It looks amazing on her, me not so much.
I’m making one for Hannah too; it’s almost done except for
sizing and sewing on the buttons.

I’m also back in the workshop and have 4 carvings under way – they still look like blobs at the moment so I’ll wait til I get to the polishing stage before taking any photos.

Over all I’m happy with how the week went – played volleyball 3 days and rode my stationary bike a couple of times while watching “Trapped” on Netflix. I really love Scandinavian crime shows! This one takes place in Iceland.  And I did my stretches every day (for my sad knee) and my sun salutations as soon as I get up, even though it’s still dark out! The result – less pain. Who knew? Well, I guess my physiotherapist…

Since my last post….

…a place for Dougie and Dougie in his place! Parking lot is finished and looks much better now- I swear the paint lines glow in the dark!

Ok, this one needs a little explanation: I saw this on Pinterest. Take a man’s shirt – cut off the sleeves and collar to make a lady’s tank top. Well…I think I cut the scoop neckline a wee bit too low – I don’t usually flaunt my cleavage like this! Not that I’m admitting to on my blog anyways!! I also found the straps a bit too wide for my narrow shoulders. If I did this again (not bloody likely) I would use a boy’s shirt instead of a man’s.

My second sewing project – FAIL
Here we are early on Saturday morning getting ready to do 108 Sun Saluations for the annual Art of Living Yogathon. In London alone we raised $5,000 to provide education for children in India. We were just one of 55 cities world-wide doing the yogathon. My photo doesn’t show the full crowd – I arrived pretty early.

It was bloody hot as we were in full sun for 3 hours – but we made it!! Then we did a group meditation – again in full sun! (I’m not complaining – today it’s cold and cloudy and I would love for that hot sun to poke it’s head out!)
These are the 12 poses we did for each of 108 sun salutations. My seester wasn’t sure what a sun salutation is so this is for you seester.

Sunday was pretty hot and sunny too so I thought hiking almost 20km would be fun! Hahahahaha! It was pretty grueling in places – lots of ups and downs – but we were rewarded by making it to 2 waterfalls. This was outside of Dundas, Ontario.

We hiked from 10am until 3:30pm. I lost 80 lbs just through sweating alone!

Ask me how my legs are doing today!  Oweeeeeee!

And my shoulder muscles from all those downward dogs, cobras and planks! I just keep thinking about how my muscles are going to pop – just like Popeye!!

A truly beautiful place – I had never been there before and appreciated all that Mother Nature had to offer. Well, not the humidity but everything else.

Then last night I helped set up for a meeting of indigenous people and our local politicians. Very few of our native populations vote in federal elections and we have a biggie coming up in October. We were hoping we could encourage folks to get out and vote. I helped out with tea, coffee and the food tables – the egg salad sandwiches were fantastic!!

Today is a quieter day – I biked downtown to go to meditation and then did a little sewing – just some mending, no other projects on the go yet…but soon!

I wonder what’s for supper??
